Whether carrying raw materials for manufacturing, fuel for power generation, or consumer products for shops, trains are relied upon to move goods faster, safer, and more efficiently. The transfer of cargoes from railcars to end destination storage devices can lead to hazardous fluid leaks that, without proper safeguards, harm people and the environment.

Eliminate railyard leak dangers with steel Star Track® railcar spill containment systems. They’re built by Polystar Containment, an industrial spill mitigation device manufacturing leader. Arm-Tex distributes this high-strength modular, easy-to-assemble hazardous material mitigation tool in many configurations, and it can stretch thousands of feet to accommodate even the longest trains.

Hazardous Material Containment Solutions That Keep You On Track

Star Track® spill containment systems consist of low-profile pans and high-strength grating. They’re set between and beside railroad tracks to collect fluid discharged from a railcar or transfer line. Here are additional benefits:

  • Limited site preparation
  • No excavation
  • Fast, clean installation
  • Immediate use
  • Non-porous design
  • Superior chemical resistance

No railyard is the same. That’s why Star Track® pans are easily tailored to suit specific applications. They can be connected or used independently. An optional drainage manifold fits snugly underneath to combine all pans. Every pan has drain ports, which are joinable to drainpipes, collection drains, or sump pumps. Other advantages include:

  • Each pan is 4 inches high by 20 feet long by approximately 10 feet wide
  • Custom track pan sizes are available upon request
  • Uses a center pan for railcar spill containment between the tracks
  • Two outrigger pans contain spills on both sides of the railcar track

Built To Last

Steel Star Track® spill containment systems are built to withstand punishing railyard environments. They’re comprised of high-strength, corrosion-resistant galvanized steel or stainless steel.

Stainless steel has elevated amounts of chromium, which produces a surface oxide layer that’s self-healing and corrosion-resistant. This material type is perfect for environments exposed to moisture, saltwater, and harsh chemicals.

For drive-over applications, such as H-20 loading, track pan systems use galvanized steel. It has the strength and durability needed to endure heavy loads day in, day out.

Railcars transport various hazardous materials, from chemicals and liquified gases to lumber and precious metals coated with lubricants, oils, and greases. Here are typical applications that can take advantage of steel Star Track systems:

  • Petrochemicals
  • Refineries
  • Manufacturing sites
  • Fabrication centers
  • Plastics manufacturers
  • Food and beverage processors
  • Pulp and paper
  • Textiles
  • Metal suppliers
  • Construction
  • Water treatment
  • Seaports
  • Power generation
  • Hydraulic fracturing
  • Military and defense
  • Municipalities
  • Utilities
  • Farms and ranches
  • Rail transport spill containment solutions

Spills are a known facet of train transportation. With the right equipment, they’ll have no impact on employee health and safety or the environment, which is good for business. Steel Star Track® spill containment systems are a practical and straightforward way to mitigate hazardous material leaks.
